Is Hypnotherapy for Me?

By James Anthony

Counceling and psychological therapy referred to as a talking cure, is the healing of psychological and emotional troubles, unwanted desirable feelings and habits, all using psychological techniques on their own. The general aim of this kind of therapy is to help people (ie clients) in bringing out important alternatives to their current poor thinking methods, behaving or feelings. Clients can also become more accepting of themselves and others using hypnotherapy, and can be a lot of help in promoting their own developments and finding their true inner potential

There are many variances of psychological therapy, and hypnotherapy is very special as it is a way of accessing powerful subconscious mind. At times the hypnotherapist will generally want to induce a relaxing state in the client, and the power of the clients mind and imagination is very important, often using hypnotic techniques like telling various stories, using symbolism or metaphors (which are of interest to the particular client) to the sending of targeted suggestions which then will initiate a change in the client. Analytical techniques often take place and often employed in the attempt to reveal deeper problems often thought to be within the clients past or previous period (referred to as "There and Then") or therapy can often delve deeper into a clients current life and present problems (referred to as "Here and Now") For the changes to be most beneficial it is commonly thought of as advantageous if the client is motivated personally to the changes (rather than expecting the hypnotherapist to do all the hard work) and just the possible belief of substantial change of a beneficial nature can often be enough to help considerably.

Despite the results of the put forward techniques, probably the most valuable are is that a client needs to have that feeling of comfort and the feeling that they are in a safe place. This is especially important in all areas of hypnotherapy, as hypnotherapy is enhanced so much when a genuine belief is there in the hypnotherapist. It is highly recommended that only one booking is taken at a time, so the client can make the decision whether to proceed in future.

Hypnotherapy is different from other aids like psychology, and is often known as a much quicker approach, and yet it still can yield extremely beneficial changes for the correct client. You should know whether it's right for you within just a couple of sessions.

N.B. In usual practice, most hypnotherapists will use various hypnotic methods with other suitable remedial and counseling techniques. If any doubt about skills used in a specific case, the therapist should be asked straight for a more in depth explanation of their method of attack. - 31857
