Hypnosis--What is it?

By Dr. Anthony Taylor

You will effortlessly notice that the effort to define hypnosis will lead you to more answers than it will lead you to answers.

One of the reasons why it is so tough to define hypnosis is because experts are divided in their opinions as to what hypnosis essentially is. Part of the reason why there are so many divisions is because there are different types of hypnosis.

Hypnosis in its simple form can be defined as an altered state of mind in a human being that causes a person to react more to suggestions. The art of suggestion is the device that hypnosis uses for both therapy and influence.

Now, the simple formula hypnosis uses to achieve its purposes is known as the ABS formula. The ABS formula stands for: Absorb Attention, Bypass the critical factor, and Motivate the unconscious with suggestion.

This may look like like a plain formula, but once it is understood, some of the most complex problems can be solved through it. In order to persuade anybody, you will first need to get their attention. Then, you must understand what the critical factor is so that you can learn to bypass it in order to have access to their unconscious. The suggestion piece of the formula is pretty simple: You give them suggestions and commands that they will follow.

Hypnosis is happening all around you on a daily basis. When people are driving or watching television, for example, they often go into trance sometimes. I'm sure you've already heard of "drivers trance".

Due to the fact that hypnosis happens by accident frequently, you will be able to easily master the dynamics of hypnosis so that you can induce trance intentionally. You no longer will need to leave the ability of hypnosis to chance anymore.

Hypnosis is an art as much as it is a science. This means that once you become skilled at hypnosis, you can utilize it to increase the quality of your life so that you can obtain more of the things that you want. - 31857
